Before you come in

Everything You Need to Know

Where to park, what to expect and the few bits of housekeeping. Two minutes now saves a phone call later.

Finding us and parking

32 High Street, Coningsby, Lincolnshire, LN4 4RA

Three options, all within a minute's walk.

  • The lay-by next to Morrisons, just behind us. Usually the easiest.
  • The lay-by on the High Street, on the main road right by the salon.
  • The large car park a short walk away, if the other two are busy — there is always room there.

We are on the High Street itself, so if you are coming through the village you will pass us. Look for the shop front rather than a house.

What to do when you arrive

  • A short walk first is a good idea. An empty bladder and a bit of energy burnt off makes the whole appointment easier.
  • Come in with them on a lead. Even the well-behaved ones — there may be another dog leaving as you arrive.
  • Don't linger over the goodbye. A long emotional farewell tells your dog something worrying is about to happen. Hand over, say goodbye briefly, and go. They settle faster than you would think.
  • Tell us anything that has changed. New medication, a sore spot, a lump you have noticed, a bad experience elsewhere. It all helps.

Timings

A full groom takes between one and two hours depending on breed, coat and how your dog finds it. We will tell you roughly when to come back when you drop off, and we would always rather take the extra ten minutes to do it properly than rush the finish.

Please do come back at the time we agree. A dog who is finished and waiting gets unsettled, and we only have so much space.

Cancellations and no-shows

You will have agreed to this when you booked, but it is worth repeating

We are a small salon and every appointment is a slot someone else could have used. When someone doesn't turn up, that time is simply lost.

  • Need to cancel or move an appointment? Please give us as much notice as you can — at least 48 hours where possible. That gives us a chance to offer the slot to someone else.
  • Last-minute cancellations and no-shows may be charged. We do not enjoy doing it and we use judgement — life happens, cars break down, children get ill. What we cannot absorb is repeated short-notice cancellations.
  • Running late? Ring us. If you are more than fifteen minutes late we may need to shorten the groom or rebook, because the next dog is already coming.

The quickest way to change an appointment is the online booking system — you can move it yourself without waiting for us to answer the phone.

Matting — the honest bit

If your dog's coat is matted close to the skin, dematting means hours of pulling at hair that is attached to skin. It is uncomfortable at best and painful at worst.

Where that is the case we will recommend a shorter clip, and we will tell you before we start rather than after. Heavily matted coats also take considerably longer, so there may be an additional charge for the time — again, you will hear about it first.

Your loyalty card

A point for every pound you spend, on grooming and in the shop. At 300 points you get a £10 voucher off your next groom.

  • Add it to your phone's Wallet and you will never lose it.
  • Recommend a friend and you get 300 points once they have spent £50 or more with us. Two conditions: they must set their card up through your link rather than at the counter, and they must show the card whenever they pay — in the salon and in the shop. That is the only way the spend can be traced back to you. Your link is in the card's options or settings inside your Wallet.
  • Leave us a Google review after a groom and we will add 100 points as a thank you.

Haven't got one yet? Ask at the counter next time you are in — it takes about a minute and points can be backdated to that visit.

Payment

Card or cash, paid at collection. If you would rather spread the cost of regular grooming, our VIP Membership turns the year into one monthly payment and includes a seasonal spa treatment with every groom, free walk-in nail clips in between and shop discount.

A few things people often ask

Better not to, in almost every case. Dogs settle far more quickly once their owner has gone — they stop looking to you for reassurance and get on with it. We will send you a photo when they are done.
A light meal a couple of hours before is fine. A large meal immediately before is not — a lot of grooming involves standing and being handled.
Tell us when you book so we can allow extra time. We groom one dog at a time, so nobody is waiting and we can go at their pace. If they need a break, they get one.
Usually yes — but please tell us honestly beforehand. It is not a reason to turn a dog away; it is a reason to allow more time, use a muzzle if needed and keep everyone safe. Finding out mid-groom is what causes problems.
For puppies, yes — we groom from around 16 weeks and two weeks after the second vaccination. For adult dogs we ask that vaccinations are up to date.
Yes, but cats are on their own dedicated appointments — Saturday afternoons — with no dogs in the salon. Cat appointments cannot be booked online, so please fill in the cat form or ring us.
Anything else? Ring us on 01526 569738 — we would far rather answer a question beforehand than have you worry about it.
