Cat Groomer
We’re looking for an experienced and confident Cat Groomer to join Katie’s Pet Services on a flexible basis, primarily helping us on Saturdays with the possibility of an additional evening during the week. We’re happy to discuss hours and working arrangements with the right person, including the possibility of a self-employed position. You’ll need to be comfortable handling cats of different breeds and temperaments and provide the calm, patient and high-quality standard of care our customers expect. What it's actually like
We groom one pet at a time. That means you get to do the job properly rather than racing the clock, and it's the main reason people who join tend to stay.
We're a small team, so everyone does a bit of everything — grooming, talking to owners, keeping the salon right. If you want to be left alone in a back room all day this isn't the place; if you like the customer side as well as the grooming, it is.
Who we're usually after
- Qualified groomers — City & Guilds, iPET, OCN or equivalent, with salon experience.
- Groomers part-way through training — we'll work around a course.
- Apprentices — no experience needed, but you must genuinely like dogs on their worst day as well as their best.
- Bathers and salon assistants — often how people start here.
Being honest about the job: it's physical, it's wet, and some days you'll be scratched. Dogs don't care what sort of week you're having. If that's put you off, it's better you know now.
