A lot of dogs around Tattershall spend their summers in and out of the water, between the Lakes and the river. Swimming is excellent for them and hard on a coat — particularly on Spaniels, doodles and anything with heavy feathering.

Repeated wetting without proper drying is the fastest route to matting there is. If your dog swims regularly, a shorter cut through the summer is usually the sensible answer rather than fighting it.
